Please know that the thematic groups currently work only in English.

Children
'Children's Capabilities TG' is an interdisciplinary network of development economists, economists, anthropologists, demographers, statisticians, sociologists, philosophers and psychologists. It aims at developing a bottom up framework based on the capability approach to address theoretical and practical issues related to children human development. We try to organise two meetings per year.
If you would like to join this group click here. You will need to be logged in, and you must be a current HDCA member.

Book of the TG on CHILDREN
The book is the combined effort of TG members.

The 30th of September 2011 the book on CHILDREN'S AND THE CAPABILITY APPROACH Edited by Mario Biggeri, Jerome Ballet and Flavio Comim has been published by Palgrave Macmillan.

The book opens with a prologue of kaushik Basu (the well-known Economists and President of HDCA) is composed by 16 chapters.

FROM THE PROLOGUE "I am glad that the present book goes beyond traditional approaches to children’s well-being and child labour by grappling with them through the capabilities approach. It is a rich volume that draws on a broad range of disciplines, methodologies and perspectives and, crucially, includes the voices of children from several countries on many of the issues that matter to them. Consequently, the questions and conclusions emerging from this volume are highly relevant for local, national and global policy debates. "

Professor Kaushik Basu, Government of India & Cornell University
